How to Create a Professional Invoice
A practical checklist of information to include when preparing an invoice for a client or customer.
Identify the seller and customer
Include the business or individual issuing the invoice and the customer receiving it. Add the relevant contact details so both parties can identify the transaction.
Describe the work or products
List each item or service clearly, including quantity, rate and line total where applicable. Clear descriptions reduce confusion and make reconciliation easier.
Show totals and payment terms
Display the subtotal, applicable taxes or discounts, final amount due and payment terms. Include the invoice date and a unique invoice number for record keeping.
